MY Wedding Photography
services faqs
1. What style of wedding photography do you offer?
I shoot in a natural reportage style, with a subtle editorial touch to give the images that polished, timeless feel. I focus on genuine moments—the big ones, the quiet ones, and everything in between—without getting in the way. No forced posing or cheesy direction. Just you, your people, and the story of the day as it unfolds.
2. We’re camera-shy. Will that be a problem?
Not at all. In fact, most of my couples say exactly that when we first chat. I totally get it—I’m not into making anyone feel awkward or staged. I’ll gently guide things when needed, but for the most part, I blend in and let you be yourselves. The best photos happen when you’re relaxed, and that’s what I aim for.
3. Do you travel for weddings outside of Manchester?
Yes—I’m based in Manchester, but I regularly shoot weddings all over the UK, and occasionally travel abroad. Whether seeking a photographer for your wedding in England, Wales, Northern Ireland or internationally I am open to all locations.
4. How many photos will we receive, and how long will it take?
You’ll get around 400–600 edited images, depending on the flow of your day. I carefully go through everything and deliver a gallery that tells your story beautifully. I usually send out a preview within a few days, and your full gallery will be ready in about 4–6 weeks.
5. Can we meet before booking?
Absolutely. I love to have a chat before you book—whether that’s over Zoom, a call, or a coffee if you’re local. It’s important you feel comfortable with your photographer, so I’m always happy to talk through your plans and answer any questions.
6. What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
I always come prepared, and we’ll make it work—umbrellas, overhangs, moody skies... it can all look incredible. I’ll guide you if needed and make sure the weather never gets in the way of great photos.
7. Are group and family photos included?
Yes, definitely. While I focus on natural, documentary coverage, I always set aside time for the group shots that matter to you. I keep them relaxed and efficient so you can spend more time with your guests and less time standing in a line.
8. Do you offer albums and prints?
Yes. I offer custom-designed albums and fine art prints that are built to last. Once your gallery is ready, you’ll have the option to choose your favourites and I’ll help you create something really special. Albums are a lovely way to relive the day and make a beautiful gift too.
9. Are you insured?
I am, yes, fully covered with public liability and professional indemnity insurance. It’s something every professional photographer should have, and I wouldn’t work without it.
10. Why should we choose you as our wedding photographer?
In my humble opinion my experience and reviews help speak for themselves, however what I believe sets me a part is that I genuinely care. I know how important this day is, and I don’t take it lightly. My goal is always to help you feel relaxed, be present, and enjoy the day fully, while I quietly capture it all. I’ve been lucky to receive amazing feedback from couples who felt completely at ease with me and were extremely pleased with the photos. If you’re after authentic moments, a calm presence, and photos that feel like you, I’d love to be part of your day.
11. HOW MUCH SHOULD WEDDING PHOTOS COST?
How long is a piece of string? Wedding photography doesn’t have a set price, you will find wedding photographers who charge a couple of hundred pounds to wedding photographers charging 5 figures for the event. The question is how much do you value your wedding photos?
12. How far in advance should I book a wedding photographer in the UK?
The average time to book a wedding photographer is about 12 months. If you find a photographer, who’s style you love, I’d recommend booking them as soon as you have a date sat at your venue.
13. Do I need a second photographer on my wedding day?
It isn’t a need, however, if you want to capture every detail of your day, a second shooter is recommended. Yes, they add a bit more to the cost, but the extra photos of your family and friends make the final album so much more enjoyable.
14. How many hours of wedding photography coverage do I really need?
This is a decision for your wedding photographer. This is for you as a couple to sit down and think about how valuable the photographs from your wedding day will be to you over the next decades. As a wedding photographer I will always recommend a full day of coverage, but that isn’t for every couple.
15. Can I send you (my wedding photographer) example shots I like?
Absolutely! It’s something I actively encourage. You’re trusting me to capture your biggest day, and having visual inspiration for the types of shots you’d like as a couple makes it easier on everyone involved. I will always set up a mood board both you and I can add to.
16. Is an engagement shoot worth it?
1,000,000%. You want to know how your photographer works and if they work well with you as a couple. An engagement shoot doesn’t mean the proposal, however, if you wanted that you could recreate it. It’s just a couple’s shoot where you can get to know your photographer better, whilst getting heirloom photos.
17. What’s the difference between documentary and traditional wedding photography?
There isn’t really much difference, because what is “traditional” wedding photography? Documentary wedding photography is a lot less posed and rigid, and is about capturing the story of the wedding day, not just the group shots and the ceremony.
18. How long will it take to get our wedding photos?
I work with a 12 week turnaround time. This sounds like a long time, however there is method to the madness. Firstly, it gives me time to get all of the editing done and to the standard my couples have come to expect. Secondly, it allows enough time for the emotions of the day to wear off, so that when you as a couple go back to look over the album you get a fresh flood of the emotions.
19. Can we request black and white versions of certain shots?
Yes, that’s not a problem.
20. Should I wear my veil and accessories for bridal portraits?
We will get photos both with and without.
21. What should we wear for our engagement photos?
Whatever you like, however I do recommend dressing smart for them.
22. How much time should we allow for group shots on our wedding day?
I advise allowing about 45 minutes to an hour (it should never take so long). You never know how long it will take to gather up the group members.
23. How can I tell if a wedding photographer is reputable?
Look at their reviews. If they have multiple good (or bad) reviews then there is a reason for it. Then once you’re in contact with them, ask to see examples of their final galleries, if they refuse to share them, it can be considered a red flag. Or you can ask to be put in contact with previous couples too and get feedback directly from them.
24. Do you offer references for your wedding photography services?
I do. I believe that the service and final images I deliver are worth shouting about, so I am always more than happy to put you in contact with a previous couple.
