How many photos do you get from a wedding photographer?
For a full wedding day, most UK photographers deliver somewhere between 400 and 800 edited photographs. A shorter booking of four to six hours usually lands nearer 200 to 400. The number matters less than what is in it, so ask what is included before you book and get the range in writing.
What decides how many photos you get?
Mostly the length of coverage and the pace of the day. A common rule of thumb is 50 to 100 finished images for every hour photographed, though photographers work differently. A full day with preparations, ceremony, group photos, speeches and dancing gives more to capture than a short ceremony-led celebration.
Does a bigger guest list mean more photos?
Often, yes. More guests means more group photographs, more reactions during the speeches and more moments on the dance floor. A small wedding can still produce a rich gallery, but it may be a smaller one.
Are you getting every photo your photographer took?
No, and you would not want to. A photographer takes many frames and then selects the strongest. Duplicates, blinks and near misses are left out. The gallery you receive is the edited selection, not the camera card.
Is more always better?
Not necessarily. A gallery of 1,000 similar frames can be harder to enjoy than 500 well chosen ones. A good gallery tells the story of the day in order, with room for the quiet moments between the big ones.
Do you get a set number of photos or a range?
Many photographers promise a range rather than an exact figure, because the day decides what happens. Some give an approximate number per hour. Neither is wrong. What matters is that you know what to expect and that it is written down.
What should you ask before booking?
Ask how many edited images a typical full day produces, how long the gallery takes to arrive, whether it is an online gallery or a download, and how long you can access it.
