Do Wedding Photographers Stay for the First Dance?
Most full-day wedding coverage includes the first dance. At Studio Williams, full-day coverage runs from the morning preparations into the evening, so the first dance and the party that follows are photographed as standard. Where photographers differ is everything around that: some packages end after the speeches, and some photographers head home once the formal moments are done.
When wedding photography coverage usually ends
There is no single rule. Some collections finish after the wedding breakfast. Others include the first dance and stop there. Full-day coverage usually means preparations through to the evening celebrations. The only way to know what you are booking is to ask exactly when your photographer leaves, and get the answer in writing.
Why the evening is worth having photographed
The first dance pulls everyone back into one place. Then the party starts: your parents dancing with old friends, your mates doing things they will deny on Monday. None of it is posed, and that is exactly the point. For a lot of couples these end up being the photographs that bring the day back most vividly, because they show people properly letting go.
What to ask before you book
Three quick questions cover it. When does your coverage finish? Does that include the first dance and some of the party afterwards? And if our timings slip on the day, which they often do, will you still be there for the evening moments? A good photographer will answer all three without hesitation, and it sits naturally alongside asking how many hours of photography you need in the first place.
